Rips, tears and snags oh my! Never fear, Animation and Gaming Ohio is bringing to you a Costume Repair Station for all of your quick, and maybe not so quick, costume and prop repairs. Staff will be available to assist you, or if you are up for doing your own stitching and taping we’ll have the tools available for you to use! Miss a few buttons and buckles in the crunch time of packing for the convention? We got you! The Costume Repair Station is also available as a space for you to come with your materials to finish your hard work if you need a quiet space to use outside of your hotel room.
The Costume Repair Station Will Be Available to You:
Friday: 1:00pm – 9:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am – 8:00pm
That the Only Time I Can Have a Costume Mishap?
YES. …no I’m kidding. Should something happen to your Costume outside of the station hours you can still receive assistance in repairing your costume within reasonable hours. (Sorry, but no 4am repair calls! We have to sleep sometime!)
How Does Use of the Station Affect Entering the Costume Contest?
It doesn’t – to an extent. You can still use the Costume Repair Station if you plan on entering the contest and we’ll make sure that when you go for your costume judging that you are judged fairly on your work. Need an example? If your bow falls off of your Sailor Moon costume and we sew it back on for you, we’ll make sure the judges put their focus on your handy work and not our bow repair. Likewise if you get a tear in that Bleach robe you worked so hard on and you come to us for a needle and thread to repair it, let the judges know of your repair! It’s all about your work and creativity, we’re just here to help with the little stuff.
Prop O Prop, Why Did Thee Break?
Did I mention that the Costume Repair Station also covers prop repairs? A little glue and some tape go a long way. With a touch of color we’ll do all that we can to get your Costume prop back on its feet and out into the convention again.
Anything Else I Should Know?
Well yes, there may be one thing that you’ll need to know. While we’ll have the right tools and supplies readily available for repairs, we will not have anything on hand to make a costume from start to finish. The supplies will be limited, but if you have your own materials with you to make a costume, or just to finish one, the Costume Repair Station is a quiet space available to you for just that when the hustle and bustle of the hallways and hotel rooms are too much for your attention span.
We’re Here to Help
If you have any general questions about sewing and costuming, feel free to ask us at the station, and be sure to look out for the Costume panel. Knowing is half the battle, and the other half involves guns and fighting or something but GI Joe and Cobra Commander could have sat down and enjoyed a cupcake once in a while together.
